Research funded by Money raised by Box Rallies

All charities face operational costs which mean that a portion of funds go to running the organisations and overheads. One of the reasons that we have gotten involved with the Shitbox rally is that a really large portion of donated money makes it through to the cancer research.

The funding is used for a wide range of interesting projects. A few examples of past and current projects:

• Whether lower doses of Asparin are effective for certain cancer types
• Whether an approved Breast cancer drug could be effective for Prostate cancer
• Finding out whether a new drug can prevent Pancreatic cancers from communicating with other cells
• Finding out if the immune system can be utilised to fight cancer
• A new blood based screening method for bowel cancer
• Improving the classification techniques of Prostate cancer to correctly work out what stage it is at and therefore apply the correct management plan.
